Chainsaws, along with drills and rippers will be added to the legendary rolling pool with The Pitt patch coming in late 2022.
Chainsaws will also have melee keywords added to them. They will be classified as a 2 handed melee weapon so perk cards such as slugger, incisor, and martial artist will now work.
Chainsaws can not be crafted nor will they appear in robot vendors' inventory. There is an exception to vendor bots and that is if a player has sold the item to the vendor.
Chainsaws have a 100% spawn rate in the below locations. The only thing that can affect their spawn is if another player has already picked it up on that server or if you picked it up on another server and it is now part of your pick-up history list. If you don't know what a pick-up history list is, then please refer to this guide.

From the spawn point, walk straight forward and then turn right so you enter the arena. Run straight through the arena to the other side and walk up the ramp. Turn right and you will see a small metal building on your right. The chainsaw is on the floor, next to the red couch, inside the small metal building.
The Rose Room

Fast travel to the mansion and run up the driveway towards the house. The chainsaw is on the left-hand side of the mansion, against the wall.
Pleasant Valley Cabins

It is going to be easier if you place a map marker for this one. There is also a lot of cliffs so bring Power Armour or a Jet Pack.
From the fast travel point, turn West and just run straight, past all the cabins, until you get to the edge of the cliff top and can't go any further. Jump off the cliff and keep running West. Jump off the next smaller cliff and the next cliff as well.
Keep running West and jumping down cliffs until you get to the ski chair lift. Walk forward so you are standing under the chair lift and then turn SW. You will see a cliff wall in the distance and then a flat area and then some shrubs and Pine trees. Head towards that gap/flat area (refer photo below).
Once you are there then turn West and keep walking forward. You should have two NPC yellow dots show up on your HUD. Jump off the cliff, turn South, and walk forward. The chainsaw is on the ground under the large Pine tree.
Mountainside Bed & Breakfast

From the spawn-in point, the bed and breakfast will be in front of you. Run towards the building and head for the set of stairs that lead to the front door at the top. Enter the building via that door and you will see a kitchen on your left and a counter and an NPC on your right. Keep walking forward and drop down the stairs to the white door of the basement. The chainsaw is on the metal shelf in the corner, next to the bodies.
This location actually has a little scene/easter egg and depending on which ending you choose, you might be locked out of the basement. You can however fall through the door to gain access.
Cranberry Bog

From the fast travel point, face West. You will see a brick building with a green roof in front of you and then a rusty shed to the right of it. Head towards the rusty shed. Enter the shed and look on your right. The chainsaw will be on top of a metal cabinet.
Crimson Prospect

From the spawn point, turn and face South and run straight forward, until you are on the other side of the building. You might need to destroy some turrets as you are running past. Once you are on the other side of the building, you will notice some shipping containers and a bus on the outer edge of the area. The chainsaw is on a metal shelf, near the open bus door.

From the lobby, head North. Ignore the stairs and walk around them. Keep walking forward and turn right when you walk past the "Tickets" window.
Go down the first flight of stairs and keep walking East. Go up the stairs and turn left at the door. Face NE and walk forward. Jump over the table and the tent in front of you. The Chainsaw will be on the metal cabinet near the orange Exit door.
The chainsaw can fall to the floor if there are explosions nearby.

The Foundry
Use the map above and the signage on the walls to identify each section of The Foundry.
Location # 1
Canal
Enter The Foundry via the Trainyard Entrance. Follow the tunnel and stop at the end of the last train carriage full of coal.
Turn East and run forward. Stay on the ground level. Veer right and keep walking East. Go through the large doorway and you will see an incinerator on your left.
Keep heading East, through the second doorway, and turn left.
Stay on the ground floor and walk North. Continue North until you see an incinerator in front of you and a blue weapons workbench on your right.
Turn and face the weapons workbench; the Chainsaw is on the shelf on your right.
Location # 2
Warehouse
Face the blue weapons workbench and turn South. Slowly walk forward and turn left at the path over the melton river.
Walk forward and go up the ramp on your left.
At the top of the ramp, turn left through the blue doors.
In the bathroom, turn right and walk through the hole in the wall.
Turn right and then turn left so you are standing on the catwalk.
Turn left and follow the catwalk and ramp down to the bottom.
At the bottom of the ramp, turn SE and walk forward until you enter the small green metal and wire caged area. There will be an armour workbench in front of you.
Turn West and the Chainsaw will be on the metal shelf in front of you.
Location # 3
Twin Cauldrons
From the chainsaw above, face North, veer left, and enter the doorway in front of you.
Follow the path around and keep walking straight (North) until you hit the wall.
Turn West, walk straight, through the doorway, and follow the path around.
You should now be in the Twin Cauldrons room.
Face West, go up the ramp, and jump on top of the blue building in front of you. Face North and jump up onto the catwalk in front of you.
Face East and follow the path around. Walk through the first blue building and stop at the doorway of the second blue building. The Chainsaw will be under the small metal table on your right, in front of you.
