How to start The Pitt questline
You can read the poster that is on the pin up board at every train station.
The poster will tell you to head to the Whitesprings Refuge.
Or
Fast travel to Whitesprings Resort and select "Whitesprings Refuge".
Once you enter the Whitesprings Refuge, the questline Responders Reborn will pop up on the top right hand corner of your screen.
You MUST complete this questline in order to unlock the Ultracell charge dailys.
This is a very short and quick questline that you can either speed through or you can take your time and using the dialogue trees, find out about the lore surrounding The Pitt, the Refuge and the Ultracell batteries.
Once you finish this questline, you will have enough battery plus a shiny new outfit, to fly to The Pitt.
Refuge Daily Quests
You will need to complete 3 of the Refuge Daily's to earn enough Ultracell charge to fly over to The Pitt. Two of the daily's give 25% and the third gives the remaining 50%.
There are 4 daily's in total and you will be given three, each day, at random.
Once you have loaded into the Whitesprings Refuge, the three daily's will automatically be added to your pip boy.
Keep in mind that you can only do these daily's once a day. If you want to run additional expeditions then you will need to find another player who has enough battery but has not yet ran their own expo (as team leader) for the day.
Refuge Daily: Mutual Aid
Rewards 25% Ultracell Charge
After speaking to Sophie Wagoner in the common room, she will request 50 of one of the below listed junk items.
There is a stash box and a FOF scrap box next to her counter.
You will need to have the junk on your person in order to turn it in.
If you do not have enough junk on you, then there is a dialogue option for you to leave and come back later with the required junk.
Server hopping or leaving the game and coming back does not change the junk type that Sophie has requested.
Junk list:
50 Cloth
50 Steel
50 Wood
50 Plastic
50 Adhesive
50 Rubber
50 Concrete
Once you have turned in the requested junk, you will receive :
25% Ultracell Charge
Caps
XP
Aid (stimpaks etc)
Grenade/s
Refuge Daily: Recipe for Success
Rewards 25% Ultracell Charge
Speak to Esme in the Whitesprings Restaurant and she will ask you to help her make Tato and Venison Stew.
You will need to stir the pot by interacting with the ladle next to the pot on the stove.
Collect a basket of carrots, tatos and venison from the back rooms.
Basket of carrots
Basket of tatos
Basket of Venison
There are two separate areas where these baskets can be found and their locations will change each time.
An area search marker will show on your HUD to point you in the direction of which room the items have spawned in but it will not give you a direct map marker so you will need to have a little look around yourself for them.
The images above will give you an idea of what you are looking for.
The shelves in the back room (make sure to check the fridge)
The shelves in the stock room (same room as Rucker)
You will need to go back and stir the stew between searching for the ingredients.
Once you have found the baskets of carrots, tatos and venison, you will need to tenderise, chop and wash them and then put them in the stew pot.
Esme will then ask you to go and find a bowl of salt and a bowl of pepper.
Same deal as the baskets of ingredients. They will be somewhere on the shelves in the back room and their locations will change each time.
Bowl of salt
Bowl of pepper
Once you have found the bowls of salt and pepper, go back to the stove and interact with the stew pot.
Speak to Esme again and she will give you an option to add extra ingredients to the stew.
You will need to have these ingredients on your person otherwise the option will be unavailable. You do not need to add any extra ingredients if you don't want to/do not have the items on you.
Extra ingredients list:
No extra ingredients = Plain Venison and Tato Stew
Stimpak = Restorative Venison and Tato Stew
Psycho = Spiked Venison and Tato Stew
Spices = Spicy Venison and Tato Stew
*Restorative Venison & Tato Stew is not buffed by the Carnivore mutation, Strange in Numbers perk card or Backwoodsman 6 magazine, as it is missing the keyword "type food healing" in the game files.
The next step is to deliver some of the stew to either the Raider rep or the Settler rep that are in the next room ( NW direction from the kitchen). You will be given reputation based on which rep you deliver the stew to.
You can let the stew burn by taking too long to find the ingredients and/or not stirring the stew. The daily will not fail and you can still hand the burnt stew over to the Raider or Settler rep.
Once you have finished making the stew and delivered it to your preferred faction, you will receive :
A bowl of Tato and Venison Stew based on what extra ingredient you picked (if you do not add an extra ingredient to the stew then you will not receive any stew for yourself).
Effects bonus: Communal Cooking (30mins) - Hunger & Thirst is slowed by 25%

Speak to Rucker. She can be found in the office area, at the back of the stock food, just off the Whitesprings Restaurant.
Rucker will send you to one of six different locations on the map and ask you to retrieve some medical information, text books or supplies.
Once you have arrived at the location and loaded inside, there will be a map marker leading you to the terminal. Find the terminal and read the top entry.
Once you have read the terminal entry, it will give you a second location in the same building. Follow the map marker to the second location and collect the item from the Doctor's Bag.

You will be required to leave Whitesprings, fast travel to a different location and then come back to complete this daily.
You will need to speak to Skippy to start this daily.
He will send you to a region on the map, where you will be required to harvest a plant and take three photos for his Refugee Guide. These locations will be marked on your map and on your HUD as area search markers.
When you are taking the photos, the photos will only register if you are using a camera, photomode will not work.
The camera must have film in it however you do not need to save the photo in order to turn the daily in.
When taking the photo, make sure that a description or the name of the NPC/item is showing in the top right hand corner of your screen.
Initiate Ellison
The daily will direct you to speak to Initiate Ellison.
Ellison can be found in the common room, near Sophie Wagoner's counter.
You do not need to speak him in order to complete the daily. He will just give you an alternative location as to where to harvest the plant for the daily. You do not need to harvest the plant from the location that he gave you either as it will still count, regardless of where you harvest the plant from.
List of regions and tasks:

If you are looking for people to run the expo with you, then start an Expeditions Public Team.
To travel to The Pitt, open your map and look for The Pitt icon (Vault Boy and Bridge). On the bottom right of the icon will be a flashing button. Press the corresponding button on your keyboard or controller to open the pop up and then select either:
Start a New Expedition
or
Resume Expedition
As Team Leader, once you reach a certain checkpoint in each mission, you can leave the game and it will save your place. This means that you can jump straight back into the mission, once you have mowed the lawn and done the dishes.
Whitesprings Refuge Random Encounters
With The Pitt DLC, comes 18 random encounters that only occur inside the Whitesprings Refuge.
Each day, when you load into the Refuge, you will see a miscellaneous side quest pop up on the top right hand side of your screen.
I'm not going to give any spoilers for these because some of them are quite hilarious and I don't want to ruin the surprise. These encounters also offer little bits of lore via certain dialogue options.
Below is a list of all the side quests so you can mark them off and make sure that you haven't missed an encounter.

Expeditions - The Pitt Rewards
All plans are character locked and are non tradeable.
Once you have learnt a plan, it will remove it from the loot pool. This helps to make your loot pool smaller.
Only one unlearnt plan will drop for you per week from Expeditions, providing you hit tier 3. Week runs from atom shop reset to atom shop reset.
You can earn stamps from running expos. Using the stamps as currency, you can buy the plans from Giuseppo's Curios, instead of waiting for them to drop.
Giuseppo can be found opposite Sophie Wagoner, in the common room, sharing a counter with Bubbles.
There is no limit to how many stamps you can earn per day, however you can only hold a maximum of 10,000 per character.
