Fallout 76 Seasonal Event Guide: Meat Week and Primal Cuts

Updated: Jul 29

"Best walkin' foods... dried meat, dried meat, roast meat, charred meat, skewered meat, squishy meat, crispy meat, fishy meat, stinky meat...rotten meat, icky meat, browned meat, seasoned meat, salty meat, slimey meat, sticky meat, sugary meat, meaty meat, chewy meat, gamey meat...fatty meat, frozen meat, burnt meat, spicy meat, chopped meat, stringy meat, red meat, wormy meat, mashed meat, peppered meat...did I miss any, moo-moo? Huh? Greens? Oh yeah. And green stuff for moo-moo." - Grahm to Chally

Meat Week is comprised of two events, Primal Cuts and Grahm's Meat Cook.

The following items, gear and perk cards are recommended to make both events a little bit easier, as well as reducing your Prime Meat and Chally the Moo-Moo’s feed from spoiling between events.

  • Green Thumb perk card under Perception

  • Good with Salt perk card under Luck or Refrigerated Backpack (available from Camp Adams vendor machines)

  • Butcher's Bounty perk card under Perception

  • Thru-Hiker perk card under Agility

  • Damage output buffs such as food, chems and alcohol

  • Turn off all unrelated event and quest map markers in your pip boy

There will be daily and weekly score challenges that will require both events to be completed successfully.

Primal Cuts

This event is held every 15 mins in various regions over the map, with only 3 regions running at a time. Successful completion of Primal Cuts rewards Prime Meat.

Prime meat can only be turned in during Grahm’s Meat Cook in return for scrip, with a max of 15 scrip per meat cook.

Primal Cut locations can be identified by the Hunting Bait and Metal Drum as seen in the below image.

You will need to interact with the metal drum to start the event.

Note, Power Armour users will need to jump out of their PA to interact with the metal drum.

During the event, there will be four (4) waves of “Prime” creatures. Each wave will spawn progressively stronger enemies, with the fourth wave including a Boss. The Boss may sometimes spawn as a legendary with 2 legendary items in their inventory.

You have 7 minutes to complete the event.

Note, some enemies may get caught behind trees and rocks during the waves.

If the wave seems overly long but nothing is spawning, then go and have a run around the area for any enemies caught up.

The successful completion of each Primal Cuts event awards Prime Meat that can be turned in during Grahm’s Meat Cook, in return for scrip.

1 Prime Cut = 1 scrip

Min 5 Prime cuts at a time

Max 15 Prime Cuts total per meat cook event

Turning in Prime Meat also rewards you with The Meat Sweats, with the effects lasting for 15 minutes.

Grahm's Meat Cook

If you are going to AFK this event, please AFK on the Meat Spits or the Metal Drums. This will greatly assist your fellow vault dwellers in completing the event on your behalf.

Trade with Grahm before or after the event. The more people helping during the event, the faster the event will compete.

How the event works

"Keep spin meat, keep collect wood, keep clean dirty Chally piles!"

The event has tasks that need to be completed to fill the event tier rewards bar.

Some tasks, if not actioned immediately, will negatively affect the event tier rewards bar and can result in an event failure.

Below is a list of tasks that can positively or negatively affect the event reward tier bar.

Every time you complete a task, an animation of Grahm cooking will appear in the top left-hand side of the screen followed by a “ting” noise.

Tasks that do not affect the event rewards tier bar:

Turning in Prime Meat.

Tasks that will make the event rewards tier bar go backward if not actioned:

Chally's Stinky Piles (poop piles).

Chally! Maybe Chally stop drop dirty piles...? No? Okay.

Pick up Chally’s poop the moment it spawns.

Bush Fires.

During the event, small bush and scrub fires will start. Interact with them to put them out immediately.

"Rotten Leftovers" (bone piles).

Collect the rotten leftovers that the previous humans have left all over the event area.

Allowing critters to run near Chally's hay pile and eating his feed.

Kill and loot the critters before they get near Chally's food.

Tasks that will fill the event rewards bar quicker:

Critter Chunks

Critters will spawn during the event. Kill them and place their “Critter Chunks” into the Snack Cart/Trolley on the East side of the event area.

Try to avoid using explosive weapons when killing the critters as the loot all function does not work on the "Critter Chunks" and you will still need to manually loot the bodies to collect them.

Butcher's Bounty does not work with Critter Chunks but it does work on intestines and other critter meats.

Do not put the "Critter Chunks" into the Snack Cart/Trolley until the event bar has hit Tier 2.

Greens

Equip Green Thumb perk card (under Perception) and collect all the “Greens” in the area.

Do not put the greens into the cooler bin/esky (located on the East side of the event area) until the event bar is at Tier 2.

Chally's Feed

Chally love feed that humans brought. Look how happy Chally is. Both heads smiling!

Feed Chally.

Graham sells a recipe called “Chally’s Feed”. Make up a bunch of Chally’s Feed between events and interact with Chally’s hay pile to feed him.

Chally’s Feed:

You will need: Green Thumb perk card (under Perception), Super Duper perk card, and Good with Salt perk card (both under Luck).

  • Boiled Water x2

  • Carrots x2 (found at General Steakhouse and Grove Family Cabins)

  • Razorgrain x3 (found at Billings Homestead)

  • Tato x3 (found at General Steakhouse, Flatwoods and Aaronholt Homestead)

  • Wood x1 (Helvetia, Pickett’s fort, Silva’s and Sons Logging Camp)

Alternatively, grow these crops at your camp for the duration of the event.

Wood Pile

Keep Wood Scraps in your inventory and interact with the pile of wood every 30 secs.

Min 5 wood scraps at a time.

Meat Spits

Continue spinning the Meat Spit until the event is completed

Metal Drums

Continue playing the Metal Drums until the event is completed

How to successfully complete the event

Step 1)

The event will start with a 2-minute timer “Wait for the cookout to begin”.

During these two minutes, fill Grahm’s Meat Spit positions first and then fill the Metal Drums position.

The event bar will auto-fill halfway Tier 1 if everyone is turning a Meat Spit and playing on the Metal Drums during the 2 min countdown.

Step 2)

Once the 2 min "wait for the cookout to begin" has ended and the Meat Cook has begun, run over and put your prime meat onto Grahm’s Meat Grill in the middle of the event area.

Step 3)

From personal experience, it is better to assign each teammate one of the following task groups and they continue with that task throughout Meat Week.

Alternatively, if you are running solo, pick one of these tasks and stick to it every event.

If you are running this event on a public server with randoms, then look at doing every other task listed below except the Meat Spits and Drums. Most players will immediately go to the spits and drums as it is the easiest thing to do but the event can still fail if the other tasks are not completed.

Meat Spit and Metal Drums:

  • AFK your little heart out.

Chally the Moo-Moo:

  • Keep the critters away from his hay pile.

  • Pick up Chally’s poop the moment it spawns.

  • Feed Chally.

Greens and Wood:

  • Collect the greens

  • Keep the wood pile piled high

Bush Fires and Rotten Leftover:

  • Put out the bush fires

  • Collect the rotten leftovers you litter bugs

Critters:

  • Kill the poor defenceless critters and collect all their chunks.

Hi, I'm Kat or Duchess

I'm an Australian data miner who writes farming, event, and food buff guides for Fallout 76.

I believe that all knowledge and information should be free, which is why my guides will never be locked behind a paywall. However, running a website and photo and video editing software does not come cheaply.

So, If you found my guides helpful, please consider buying me a ko-fi (coffee) using the link below.

All monies go towards the tools for writing my guides and maybe for an actual cup of coffee or 3 ;)

Alternatively, share my guides with your fellow vault dwellers and help them to survive the wasteland.
