Perk Card Packs:

  • Every time you level up five times in the game, you get a Perk Card Pack.

  • Each pack contains four cards:

    • The first three cards are non-animated with blue backs (1st, 2nd, and 3rd cards).

    • The fourth card is animated with a gold back (4th card).

Rarity of Animated Cards:

  • The animated cards (gold-backed) in the packs have different rarities (Common, Uncommon, and Rare).

  • As of Patch 12 (August 2019), Perk Cards with only one rank were removed from Perk Card Packs, meaning their animated versions were no longer available. However, on December 5, 2023, Bethesda reintroduced single-rank Animated Perk Cards to the packs, allowing them to appear once again in Perk Card Packs.

Drop Rates for Cards in Packs:

  • The table below displays the chances of getting each type of card as they are revealed in the pack, starting with the 1st card, followed by the 2nd, the 3rd, and then the 4th card.

Common cards are most likely to show up in the 4th card spot, which is the animated one.

Uncommon cards are most likely to be in the 1st card spot, and it gets harder to get them in the animated spot.

Rare cards have a 50/50 chance of being in the 1st card spot, but it’s really rare to get them as the 4th animated card.

Can Non-Animated Cards Become Animated?

There is a very low chance that a non-animated card will become animated, with the odds being:

  • 1st card: 0.01%

  • 2nd card: 0.1%

  • 3rd card: 1%

Ranking up Animated Perk Cards:

If you want to rank up an animated perk card, you can use either animated or non-animated duplicates of the same card.

Using non-animated cards to upgrade won't remove the animation from your animated card.

If your starting card (Rank 1) is animated, the animation will stay through all future ranks, no matter how many times you upgrade it. As long as you’re upgrading an animated card, the animation stays.

Note: You won't lose your animated cards unless you try to upgrade a non-animated rank 1 card and already have a rank 2 animated card. In that case, the game will use the rank 2 animated card to give you a rank 3 animated card.

*Note: As of September 27th, 2024, Adrenaline, Bloody Mess, Fortune Finder, Healing Hands, Lifegiver, and Pain Train are not in the game's animated perk card list, meaning they cannot drop.

Your progress will be automatically saved as you mark the boxes on the checklist below.

I firmly believe that knowledge should be accessible to everyone, so my guides will always be free. However, maintaining a website and using photo and video editing software can be costly.

Every bit of support helps cover the costs of creating these guides and maybe even gets me a cup of coffee or three ;)
