The Appalachian Outlaws Challenge is a limited-time event in Fallout 76.
Running from the 22nd of April 2025 to the 6th of May 2025 at 12 PM US EST (at Atom Shop changeover), players can claim the Money Bag Backpack Skin for free from the Atom Shop.

To take part, head to an Armor Workbench and apply the Money Bag backpack skin to your backpack, then equip it. After that, complete the listed challenges to earn exclusive, limited-time rewards.

Limited-Time Challenges have been reworked and are now called Mini Seasons
How it works:
Complete each challenge to earn tickets, which can then be used to purchase the rewards of your choice from the limited-time reward board. This system works similarly to the current Season structure.
At the time of publishing this guide, the exact number of tickets awarded per challenge—and the ticket cost of each reward—has not yet been confirmed.
FAQ
Can we re-roll the challenges?
No.
Can I complete these challenges on a custom server?
No.
Can I complete these challenges on a private server, by myself, if I create a public team?
Yes.
Can I complete these challenges in one day?
Yes, all the challenges for the week will likely be released on the first day, allowing you a week to complete them.
Can I wear Power Armor while completing these challenges?
Yes! — The challenge has been updated so that as long as you have the skin applied to a backpack and the backpack is equipped, it will count. This means you can now complete the challenge without exiting Power Armor or removing your helmet. *Things don't always go as planned, so maybe test it yourself first.

Week 1 Challenges
Craft 15 Molotovs while wearing the Money Bag Backpack
Kill 76 Humans while wearing the Money Bag Backpack
Kill 500 Enemies while wearing the Money Bag Backpack
Scrap Junk to get 5 Silver while wearing the Money Bag Backpack
Pick 1 Lock while wearing the Money Bag Backpack
Collect 76 Pre-War Money while wearing the Money Bag Backpack
Collect 5 Cigarettes (pack or carton) while wearing the Money Bag Backpack
The following route will cover most of the Kill 76 Humans challenge, help progress the Kill 500 Enemies challenge, and allow you to collect all the Pre-War Money, Cigarettes, Silver, and complete a Pick a Lock challenge.
There are faster ways to collect Pre-War Money, Silver, and Cigarettes—but this route is designed to also help complete the 76 Humans and 500 Enemies challenges, so while it’s a bit longer, it covers more ground.
You will need:
Master Infiltrator Legendary Perk Card
or
Expert Picklock, Master Picklock, and Picklock under Perception
and
Jetpack (Optional)
Berry Mentats (Optional) - To highlight enemies
Chem Fiend - Max Rank (Optional) - To extend the time that the Berry Mentats are active
Open the Expo menu and select
Atlantic City

Boardwalk

Start Expo
OR
Travel to District

I personally recommend selecting Start New Expedition, as the Competitors count as Human enemies and will contribute toward the Kill 76 Humans challenge.
If you're not combat-ready, you can choose Travel to District instead. Alternatively, you can travel to the district first to collect everything, then do a second expedition and focus on killing the Competitors. If you have the time, loot the Competitors after you kill them, as some have Pre-War Money on them
Once you load into the Boardwalk, from the spawn-in location, face northeast and run straight toward the white brick building in front of you. Once at the building, turn slightly east and look up—you’ll see three floors exposed through a giant hole in the wall.

Jump and jetpack your way up to the top (third) floor.
In the eastern corner is a locked safe (Pick 1 Lock while wearing the Money Bag Backpack) and a pile of 5 Pre-War Money (Collect 5/76 Pre-War Money while wearing the Money Bag Backpack).

While still on the top floor, turn and face west. All the way across the area, you’ll see a Nuka-Cola billboard. On the ground beneath it is a blue truck trailer. Jump down, run all the way over, and stand on top of the trailer. While standing on it, walk to the end and face north. Slightly to your left, you’ll see a fire escape catwalk.

Jump over to the fire escape and follow the stairs up to the top. Jump over to the wooden platform and climb up so you’re on the roof of the building.
On the northwest side of the roof, there are 13 piles of Pre-War Money (Collect 18/76 Pre-War Money while wearing the Money Bag Backpack). Check both skeletons’ hands, as they often hold money. Also, check the cash registers—there’s a chance they’ll contain additional Pre-War Money. Since the amount that spawns in registers is random, we’ll assume there was none for now and continue toward the full 76.

Run the Expo like normal. You’ll eventually end up at the Winner’s Circle, which is the final room of the expedition with Mother Charlotte. If you’re lucky, you might get a Defend the Flag or Defeat the Civilian objective before then—both of which will spawn additional humans and enemies, helping you progress your challenge totals.
Once you’ve defeated the Batsurri Twins, do not go and talk to Mother Charlotte just yet.
Turn around and go back a few rooms and kill any Competitors that are still alive for your Human and Enemies challenge. Then turn around and head back to the winner's circle.
From the middle of the kitchen, face south and exit the room. On your right is a staircase—go up the stairs and face east. Walk forward, open the double doors, and face north. Continue down to the bar tables and stop.

Face east—everything on the tables in front of you is made of silver. Each piece of cutlery gives 1x Silver, so you’ll need to collect 5 pieces total to complete the challenge. You can scrap them at your camp or use a Scrap Kit from your Misc tab.
I collected everything I could find from all the tables in the room, and the total was:
44x Silver Table Knife (44 Silver)
43x Silver Fork (43 Silver)

If you need glass to complete the Craft 15 Molotovs while wearing the Money Bag Backpack challenge, collect the 52 shot glasses in the room. That will give you the 30 glass required to craft them. Scrapping the Pre-War Money you collect along the way will also help with the 15 cloth needed.
If you need additional glass for camp building, loot the bar in this room—there are fancy glasses on the shelves that you can display in your camp as décor. There's also a cash register behind the bar, where you can check for more Pre-War Money.
There’s another dining table in the same room as Mother Charlotte that has more silver cutlery, in case you still need it. Don’t forget to check the cash register in the corner behind the counter for any random Pre-War Money spawns.
3x Silver Fork
3x Silver Table Knife

At this point, there’s nothing left to collect or kill in this part of the expedition, so go ahead and speak to Mother Charlotte.
Once you wake up, Do Not leave for Appalachia yet.
Get up off the lounge chair and face South. Walk over to the table with the black-and-white umbrella in front of you. There are 5 packs of cigarettes here (Collect 5 Cigarettes — pack or carton — while wearing the Money Bag Backpack), along with 7 piles of Pre-War Money (Collect 25/76 Pre-War Money while wearing the Money Bag Backpack).

From the table, face south and drop down to the ground floor. Face east and walk straight, passing the hot dog carts, until you reach the building wall. Face southeast and slowly walk forward—you’ll see a doorway half-covered by a wooden sheet on your left after a few steps.
Turn left into the doorway and follow the corridor to the end. Face north and continue along the pier all the way to the end. Turn right, walk through the doorway in the metal wall, and follow the path around past the power station.

Stop at the hole in the metal wall on your right.
Face east and you’ll see a balcony or platform ahead of you.
Jump over to the platform and stop at the black-and-white umbrella. Face north and look up—there’s a small wooden ledge above you, followed by a tilted billboard that’s half-falling off the wall, and finally a hole in the building above that.
Use the ledge and the billboard to walk up the side of the building and enter the hole in the wall.

Be careful with this next part—if the bomb goes off, the Pre-War Money can go flying, and you might not be able to collect it all.
Once you're on the top floor, face west and you’ll see a baby crib. On the ground is a scale bomb trigger, with one bomb on the wall and another hidden beneath the pile of Pre-War Money inside the crib. You can walk along the side wall to avoid triggering the scale, but to grab the money, you’ll need to be quick.
There are 5 piles of Pre-War Money here (Collect 30/76 Pre-War Money while wearing the Money Bag Backpack).

Head back to Lennox and leave for Appalachia.
Tyler County Fairgrounds
7x Pre-War Money
Kill 500 Enemies
From the spawn-in location, face north and run straight, jumping off the cliff and down to the ground. Keep heading north, jumping over or walking around any obstacles, until you reach the Nuka-Cola Bottle tower in the center of the area.
Walk up to the bottle and face east. Jump onto the roof of the red stall in front of you. The 7 piles of Pre-War Money are located on the right side of the corpse.
Be sure to check the duffle bag and the corpse as well—there’s a chance for additional Pre-War Money spawns. (Collect 37/76 Pre-War Money while wearing the Money Bag Backpack).

Whitesprings Golf Club
13x Pre-War Money
Kill 500 Enemies

From the spawn-in location, turn and face south. Run forward, jump over the white brick fence, and kill all the frogs. Continue heading south, jump over the wall on the far side of the pool area, and keep walking down until you reach the bridge.
From the middle of the bridge, face north, jump off, and follow the road uphill until you reach the guard house on your left. Enter the guard house—there are 2 piles of Pre-War Money on the shelf beneath the broken terminal. (Collect 39/76 Pre-War Money while wearing the Money Bag Backpack)

Fast travel to The Whitespring Golf Club.
From the spawn-in location, run over and enter the Golf Club through the front door. Clear the area, then turn around and stand at the top of the main staircase. Head down the stairs and turn left. Go through the doorway, then turn left again.
Jump over the counter—there are 5 piles of Pre-War Money on the shelf under the cash register in front of you. (Collect 44/76 Pre-War Money while wearing the Money Bag Backpack).

Turn around, go back up the stairs, and exit the Golf Club. Face east and jump over the wire fence into the tennis court. Walk over to the net and face north. Jump over the tennis court fence, then over the building directly ahead.
Stop when you reach the dirt path.
Follow the dirt path up the hill to the row of buildings. Enter the first green door on your left.
Head to the back of the shop, where you’ll find a hole in the wall in the northern corner.
Go through the hole and walk behind the counter—there is a Level 3 Safe on the wall.
Face southeast and exit the shop through the yellow door.
Turn left, walk along the porch, and enter the next shop through the red door.
Turn left and walk behind the counter. There are 5 piles of Pre-War Money on the shelf under the typewriter. (Collect 49/76 Pre-War Money while wearing the Money Bag Backpack)

The Whitesprings North Entrance (Exterior)

From the spawn-in location, face north and run forward. Jump over the white brick wall and enter the Laundry Building. Go through the second door on your left, marked "Laundry." Inside, there is 1 pile of Pre-War Money on the table in the middle of the room, partially tucked into a blue basket. (Collect 50/76 Pre-War Money while wearing the Money Bag Backpack)

Seneca Rocks Visitors Center
7x Pre-War Money
Kill 500 Enemies

From the spawn-in location, face east and follow the road around. Go past the truck, keep walking straight, and stop at the Nuka-Cola vending machine against the wall on your right. Just past the vending machine is a window and then a door to the building.
Turn and enter the building—there are 6 piles of Pre-War Money on the floor behind the counter, underneath a Level 2 locked safe. (Collect 56/76 Pre-War Money while wearing the Money Bag Backpack).

Turn around and exit the building, then head over to the Red Rocket. There is 1 pile of Pre-War Money on the counter in front of the cash register. (Collect 57/76 Pre-War Money while wearing the Money Bag Backpack)

Autumn Acre Cabin
7x Pre-War Money
Kill 500 Enemies

From the spawn-in location, turn south and run forward. Head down the mountain, jumping off rocks until you reach a dry riverbed with a small pond on your left. Turn southeast and walk along the riverbed until you’re standing at the edge of the pond.
In one corner of the pond, you’ll see three blue barrels. Head over to them—there are 7 piles of Pre-War Money on top of the barrels and in the water behind the skeleton wearing a dress. You’ll need to knock the skeleton out of the way by walking into it. (Collect 64/76 Pre-War Money while wearing the Money Bag Backpack).

Dagger's Den
12x Human Enemies (External)
5x Human Enemies (Internal)
Kill 500 Enemies
8x Pre-War Money

From the spawn-in location, run forward and clear the area, including both external and internal enemy spawns. Once you're done, either fast travel back to Dagger’s Den or look for the school bus near the spawn-in point.
Stand on top of the bus and walk to its southern end. Turn to face south, jump off the bus, and run up the hill. As you go, you’ll see an old orange and rusty ute (pickup truck) ahead of you. Head over to it.
On the ground behind the ute are some blue barrels and 9 piles of Pre-War Money. Some of the money may get stuck—you can use an explosive weapon to dislodge it. If any of the piles disappear underground, fast travel to another location and then come back; the money will respawn in its original position. (Collect 72/76 Pre-War Money while wearing the Money Bag Backpack)

High Knob Lookout
2x Pre-War Money
1x Level 1 Safe - At the top of the lookout
12x Human Enemies

From the spawn-in location, run straight forward and jump over the gate. Continue walking straight toward the tower. Stop when you reach the table on your left.
Face northeast—you’ll see some sleeping bags, a lantern, a duffle bag, and some wooden crates stacked on pallets just before the table. Walk over to the sleeping bags. The 2 piles of Pre-War Money are on the ground in front of the duffle bag. (Collect 74/76 Pre-War Money while wearing the Money Bag Backpack).

Slumber Mill Motel
7x Pre-War Money
Kill 500 Enemies
1x Level 0 Locked Door

From the spawn-in location, follow the road, go past the yellow bus, and turn right. Cross the bridge and walk toward the motel. Stop at the small red car and turn southwest. You’ll see a closed door on the building in front of you, near a barrel fire.
Walk over to the door, open it, and enter the room. The 7 piles of Pre-War Money are on the metal cart next to the destroyed robot. (Collect 81/76 Pre-War Money while wearing the Money Bag Backpack)

Big Bend Tunnel East - Riding Shotgun Event
33x Human Enemies
Kill 500 Enemies
This event has a per-server cooldown. If you can't start the event, then server hop and try again.

Lucky Hole Mine - External and Internal
23x Human Enemies
Kill 500 Enemies

That should complete all the challenges, except for the 500 Enemies. Personally, for the 500 enemies challenge, I’m going to start at the top of the Savage Divide and either run or fast travel between each location, killing everything that moves. I’ll also jump into any public or community events (non-public events), power up a few power plants, and claim some workshops to trigger Defend Workshop events, since they’re a great source of enemy waves in one place.
If you want to complete the challenges without a start-to-finish guide, here are some tips to help you.
